The Assessor’s Office is charged with the responsibility of valuing all taxable and non-taxable real property at its fair market value. Market value is defined as “the amount, in dollars, a property would sell for on the open market with no undue influences on either the buyer or the seller”. This work must be done annually from October 1st to September 30th and completed for the finalization of the Grand list by January 31st.
A town-wide revaluation must be done every five years as per Connecticut General Statute 12-62. A revaluation is implemented to equalize assessed values within the Town. The last revaluation of the Town of East Haddam was conducted in 2022. It will be revalued again in 2027.
The Assessor’s Office maintains information on real estate ownership, sales, descriptions and values. Field cards are available on-line.

ASSESSOR’S NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS
February 4, 2026
The assessor has finalized and certified the October 1, 2025 Grand List. Pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes §12-55 the assessor is mailing “Assessment Notices of Increase” to owners of real and personal property whose assessment valuations have increased since last year. Any property owner wishing to view their notice ahead of receiving it in the mail or to check to that their property assessment valuation was increased may search the increase notices posted online.

To search, assessment notices are filed by taxpayer last name (or LLC, Inc., etc.), property owners may scroll the pages in alphabetical order or may use the magnifying glass search button and type in their last name, unique id (aka account number), property address, or by assessor’s map and lot numbers (Key in “M” followed by 2 digit map number, “space”, and “L” followed by 3 digit lot number.
