    Update 3/10/18 at 1:30pm

Good Afternoon. This is a Saturday, March 10th -1:30 PM update from First Selectman Emmett Lyman and Emergency Management Director Craig Mansfield.

Currently there are more than 15 crews in town performing power restoration. Eversource currently shows East Haddam as being 12% out of power. Eversource continues to show an estimated global statewide restoration of 11:00 PM on Sunday. Crews are scheduled to continue working in town until restoration is complete.

It is imperative that you continue to report any power outages to Eversource at 800-286-2000. Additionally, you should continue to report any phone, cable or internet outage to your specific provider.

The Senior Center will remain open Saturday night until 6:00 PM as a warming and charging center. On Sunday, the warming and charging center will move from the Senior Center to the High School and will be available from 6:00 AM–12 ;00 PM. Additionally, showers will be available at the High School Sunday morning from 6:00 - 10:00 AM.

Currently, Mt Parnassus remains closed between Bogue and Smith Road and is expected to remain closed today and be open sometime late Sunday Evening.

At this time all other roads in town are passable. We ask that you continue to report any trees and wires that are down in your area to the East Haddam Emergency Management storm line at 860-891-8308.

This is the last planned Everbridge message unless something changes that requires us to provide you with additional information.

Thank you for your patience through this restoration process.

    Update 3/9/18 at 4:00pm

Good Afternoon.  This is a Friday, March 9th - 4:00 pm update from First Selectman Emmett Lyman and Emergency Management Director Craig Mansfield.

Currently there are more than 15 crews in town performing road clearing and power restoration. Eversource currently shows East Haddam as being 32% out of power.  Eversource has issued an estimated global statewide restoration of 11:00 pm on Sunday.  Crews are scheduled to continue working through the night to get the roads cleared and power restored as quickly as possible.

Please do not take down road closed barriers setup by the Eversource lineman and drive through. In addition to slowing down the restoration process, this creates an extreme safety issue for both you and the Eversource crews working to restore your power.

Residents are asked to check on their neighbors and especially those with special needs who remain without power.

The Senior Center will remain open tonight until 10:00 pm as a warming and charging center.  The Senior Center will reopen Saturday morning at 8:00 am.  Additionally, showers will be available tomorrow morning at the High School from 6:00 - 9:00 am.

For those who planned to attend, the Fire Department St Patrick’s Dinner has been postponed until next Saturday.

Currently there remains approximately 25 roads in town that are either blocked or passable with only one lane in spots.  Please note, at this time MT Parnassus remains closed between Bogue and Smith Road. A list of all effected roads is available on the Emergency Management Facebook Page, the Town Website and in the email version of this Everbridge message.

This is a message from First Selectman Emmett Lyman and Emergency Management Director Craig Mansfield.

The Emergency Operations Center has been in contact with Eversource and has provided a full list of all blocked roads, downed wires and trees on wires within the Town.  While progress has been made by Eversource and our Public Works crews, several areas of town still have blocked roads and several roads in town are passable but with only one lane in many locations.  If traveling the roads, especially after dark please use extreme caution.  Eversource is still in a "Make Safe" road clearing mode and has yet to start to address any restoration.

Showers will be available tomorrow at the Nathan Hale-Ray High School from 5:00 am - 8:00 am.  The warming/charging center will be open from 8:00 am - 7:00 pm. at the Senior Center on Great Hillwood Road and non-potable water will be available at the Town Street Firehouse.

East Haddam remains approximately 82% out of power.  If your cable or phone is out, you need to contact those companies directly.  For power outages and wires down, please call Eversource directly at 800-286-2000.  All emergencies should be reported to 911.  You must treat all wires as if they are live and stay a safe distance away.

Please remember if you are using a generator please ensure that it is wired correctly and properly ventilated to the outside.  Also, please ensure all gas stoves, dryers and other vents from your home are clear of snow.
