As we are in the season of Thanksgiving and preparing our homes for the frigid winter months, its important to be mindful that some of our neighbors may need assistance to heat their homes this winter. East Haddam fuel bank is a non profit organization that can benefit East Haddam families in times of need. Assistance is awarded via referrals through: Youth and Family Services (Toni McCabe 860-873-3296) or Energy Assistance (Brad Parker-Senior Center 860-873-5034).

Funding for the fuel bank comes from tax deductible financial donations from area churches, community organizations and individuals like you. Your help is needed now to ensure funds are available when assistance is needed. Stop by on Saturday, November 18th from 9:00 am - Noon at the East Haddam Transfer Station, Grist Mill Market, Two Wrasslin' Cats or Shagbark to donate. We'll also have volunteers at First Church of Christ 499 Town Street East Haddam collecting donations from 10:00 am - 2:30 pm. Donations are also welcomed via mail by sending a check payable to: East Haddam Emergency Fuel Bank c/o First Church P.O. Box 445 East Haddam Ct. 06423-0445.

The East Haddam Emergency Fuel Bank was established in 1977 by East Haddam Public Health Nursing Board and the East Haddam Council of Churches, neither of which exists today. First Church (The First Ecclesiastical Society of East Haddam, CT) volunteered to act as the sponsoring charity for this fund and continues in this capacity. Dr. Karl Stofko, former treasurer of First Church and clerk of the board of the Public Health Nursing Board of East Haddam in 1977, has acted as treasurer and manager of this fund since it's inception. So stop by on November 18th and help FILL the fuel bank!
