Friends of Machimoodus-Sunrise State Parks
|Date:||May 17, 2015|
Location: East Haddam Grange Hall
On Sunday, May 17th, the Friends of Machimoodus-Sunrise will be holding an informal, informational meeting at the East Haddam Grange Hall at 4:00 pm, open to all.
As you may know, there have been on-going efforts to form a group dedicated to the preservation and improvement of these two beautiful parks for quite some time. With tremendous cuts to the state’s parks budget looming, this matter has become increasingly urgent.
The intent of this meeting is to gather together and discuss our hopes and concerns for the Sunrise and Machimoodus State Parks with First Selectman Mark Walter and Rep. Melisa Ziobron, who will be giving an update on the current status of both parks.
As a community, we will be laying the groundwork for our new group, defining our mission and discussing usage options. Your participation will be key to ensuring that we will be able to continue to enjoy these properties in ways that promote preservation, sustainability, and safe access for all for generations to come.
Hopefully, we will leave this meeting with tons of ideas on how to make progress and a strong core group committed to making that progress happen.
We are excited to move forward on this important and exciting endeavor who’s time has definitely come.
