East Haddam Food Bank

The East Haddam Food bank was established in 1999. It has a goal to serve community members in need of food support. The food bank is presently located in the basement of the Grange Hall, 488 Town Street, East Haddam, CT. The Food Bank is open Tuesdays for donations and distribution from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Other community locations at churches, post offices and Grist Mill Market are available for food donation drop off.  Financial donations may be sent to the East Haddam Food Bank c/o Youth and Family Services, P.O. Box 572, 387 East Haddam /Moodus Road, Moodus, CT 06469. All food donations should be checked for valid use date. Rusted, dirty or severely dented cans should not be brought to the food bank.  All food we provide must be checked for quality assurance.  The food bank presently serves 250-300 members of our community.  The most needed donations are canned meats, canned meals (ex. stew, chili, kid pasta), cereal, condiments, fruit juices, coffee/tea, baking staples (sugars, flour, puddings etc.), canned fruits and vegetables, pasta and sauce, soups, rice dishes, peanut butter and jelly, cookies and crackers, and canned fish.  The food bank welcomes donations by individuals and groups working together for the cause.  For further information please contact East Haddam Youth & Family Services at 860-873-3296.

East Haddam Clothing Bank
 
The East Haddam Clothing Bank will be open only on Tuesday afternoons from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. It is now located at The First Church of Christ, Congregational, 499 Town Street in East Haddam. Please follow our signs to the back parking lot and entrance which is accessed from Orchard Road. Clothing is available to East Haddam residents at no cost.

We greatly appreciate the use of the space donated by the church and ask that donations be dropped off only during the hours we are open. We do not want clothes left at the door or in other areas of the church when the clothing bank is closed. Occasionally, other arrangements can be made by calling (860) 873-1338 between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to schedule a drop-off time with one of the clothing bank volunteers.

At this time, we can accept only fall to winter clothing that is clean and in excellent condition. We do not have space for off season clothing and we do not have the resources to clean or repair clothing that is in poor condition. We will begin accepting winter clothing at the end of October.

The East Haddam Emergency Fuel Bank ran out of funds today, for the first time since its founding in 1977.

Since January 1, 2010, thirty-four East Haddam families have received $300.00 each in fuel aid totaling $10,200.  Two additional families are waiting for assistance and we expect up to 15 more families to apply before the end of the year.

Please help us to continue helping our less fortunate neighbors to keep warm this winter by donating as much as you can, as soon as you can, to the East Haddam Emergency Fuel Bank.
