East Haddam - 2017 Revaluation
The Town of East Haddam has contracted with Vision Government Solutions to conduct a statistical update of values as well as cyclical re-inspections for the Grand List in 2017. Vision Government Solutions will be working with the Assessor's Office to make this 18 month project a successful one. The last revaluation was completed in 2012 and current state law requires towns to revalue every five years. A revaluation will determine the current fair market value of every property in town. It equalizes the values of all properties for the purpose of a fair distribution of the tax burden.
The major phases to a municipal revaluation are: Data Collection, Market Analysis, Valuation, Field Review and Informal Hearings. During the months of February through October, the data collectors will be in data collection phase. The valuation phase will start in the spring of 2017 and be finalized in October. Vision Government Solutions personnel will be driving throughout the town reviewing all properties to update the Assessor's database. An Assessor's Office sign will be posted in the vehicle window and the data collector's cars are registered with the East Haddam Police Department as well as the Assessor's Office at the Town Office Building.
